Hello Lincoln Families-
I am the school psychologist and have created a google classroom just for parents and guardians!! As everyone knows, we are in crazy unprecedented times that have resulted in much stress and anxiety for our children, teachers, and ourselves. Our Lincoln teachers are doing a great job sharing social-emotional activities and lessons, but I wanted there to be a specific place that families can go to when you are in need of ideas to help calm, settle and emotionally regulate your kids and yourselves.
In my google classroom, you will find parent resources that can help with trying to navigate suddenly being your student’s teacher as well as care provider. There are some great, quick articles from the “Love and Logic Institute” that talk about creating routines, dealing with power struggles, saying no without guilt, or dealing with our own strong emotions that are natural when we are stressed. There are also district resources about economic support if you are in need. I have included many strategies and activities that will help support you or your child in dealing with anxiety, being cooped up, and needing to settle in order to learn. There are also mindfulness and movement ideas that can help develop emotional resilience.
In order to access the google classroom, you will need to log in using your student’s OSD account. The code for my google classroom is jlnhshu.
You are also invited to our Parent/Guardian Support Zoom meetings that are happening every Wednesday (afternoon) and Thursday (evenings) until school ends in June.
